From www.ncwsa.com------- It's been long overdue but after months of hard work by Dave Clark the NCWSA is proud to announce team rankings. We have always wanted to find a way to compare teams who compete in seperate tournaments each weekend. Usually Nationals is the only way to find out but now we have instant access to this information. The USAwaterski rankings list now has two NCWSA rankings links, one for individual and one for team. The individual rankings are your normal rankings based on a skiers best 2 scores through the fall season with a 25% penalty for only having one score, so get out there and participate. To establish team rankings the list then takes the top 5 skiers in each event just like a regular NCWSA tournament. It scores them as usually meaning 10 points per skier and then takes each teams top 4 skiers for total team points in that event. It then takes the team points across slalom, trick, and jump for both men and women and comes up with a pseudo-tournament that ranks all the teams just as if all 100 NCWSA teams competed in the same tournament. You can view these team rankings by region as well as by conference. Right now as of September 10 we only have 3 midwest scores so the team rankings are not fully complete but even here we can compare how the teams rank against each other even though they skied in 3 seperate tournaments last weekend. As this gets more complete we will use this as our weekly AP Top 25 Poll. And this year the 2nd wildcard team will be based off of such a ranking type system so we will be able to closely watch that as the season progresses.
