Time heals nature's wounds |
|
If you like college skiing, and if you are particularly a fan of Lake Lottawatta & Waters Edge Estates, then you are in good shape. While mother nature tried her darndest to shut down the conference championships this weekend, the owners and ski clubs just simply would not allow it. At Waters Edge, things are looking up. Well in fact they are looking down if you are talking about water levels, and that is good. With the help of the whole ski club, the lifts have been put back together, the jump is secured back down, the docks have started to resurface and some slalom and jump buoys are popping up periodically. With just about one more foot of water level decrease, the site will be ready to go. They should have that water level decrease in the next two days with no problems. So plan on Great Plaines Conference Championships happening in Wilmington Illinois at Water Edge. On the east side of the Region - there are also positive reports from Lake Lottawatta in the Great Lakes Conference. Their whole club has banded together and is spending each free hour at the site to get ready for the tournament by clearing debris from the water and by fixing the jump. They are also going to be set to go by Friday. So both conference championships will be in their original locations. And both tournaments will decide the Sweet 16 that qualify for Regionals and get to compete for a chance to make it to Phoenix. Good luck to all this weekend!
